I knew Mickey was going to be the main character in the game prior to playing, and I don’t hold that against the game too much either. Thankfully his dialogue is quite minimal though.
Unfortunately, that does mean there are times when you have to listen to Mickey’s insanely annoying voice.
It’s basically a save the kidnapped princess type story, but in this case, it’s Minnie Mouse you have to save, while you play as Mickey Mouse. The story is typical of anything Disney, and nothing unique to the gaming world either. The game begins with an introductory cut-scene – essentially a series of stills with a narrator and occasional character voices. Initially it kept crashing after the main screen due to it using the onboard graphics rather than the Nvidia graphics card, but as soon as I changed that in Nvidia Control Panel, I was good to go! I had the pleasure of playing the original, and I can now say I’ve had the pleasure of playing the 2013 remake. Anybody can enjoy it! It’s also worth noting that it’s remake, or “reimagining”, of the original game for Sega systems back in the 90s. It’s casual enough that age and skill need not be much of a problem.
Regardless Castle of Illusion is back on digital platforms, if you never picked it up I suggest get a copy while they are live.Ĭastle of Illusion is also available on mobile platforms, but those were published by Disney, so I didn’t mention them in the pull.Castle of Illusion (starring Mickey Mouse) is a basic platformer, reminiscent of a simpler time, and certainly one of the easier platformers I’ve played. No idea what happen over at SEGA to make them change their mind or if this is some sort of mistake. When SEGA was warned about pulling Castle of Illusion they put it on sale as low as a dollar and now that its back its at regular price of $14.99. We talked about SEGA losing the Mickey Mouse license this past September and having to pull Castle of Illusion from online stores, it seems something has changed since they have silently put them back on sale across all major digital platforms.
